K.C. Bouma’s ebook series, The Mysterious Legend of Vladimir, now has a new installment available on smashwords. Continuing from where the first section of this incredibly compelling five part series ended, Bouma brings together vampires, love, loss, time travel and Scotsmen to build an even firmer foundation for her dark, brooding and unlikely hero to stand upon.

Vladimir Makes a Transition

The deeply tortured soul of Vladimir Dracula finds little solace throughout the duration of the second portion of this ebook series; however, a greater understanding of his character is established and explained to an acceptable degree. Fans of the initial Vladimir submission will very much enjoy the progression of the once secluded protagonist as he cautiously maneuvers a myriad of strange new feelings and is unwillingly thrust into battle with sinister forces that rival the most considerable evil known to any species. They will also appreciate Vladimir’s burgeoning awareness of the responsibility and depth of his own powers, which are brought to his attention through a surprising series of discoveries, and how the course of events that lead to the captivating ending leaves the phrase “wanting more” to look like a poor parody of itself.

The Mysterious Attraction of Vladimir

Expanding on the theme established in the first episode, Bouma adds a few other rather interesting features to the second that possess an advantageous edge. Introducing time travel as a plot device not only allows this section to benefit, but it also holds an ample amount of possibilities for the remaining three. Aside from this, there are also several moments where strategically placed humor is used to lighten the constant feeling of dread that looms over most of the preceding material.

Naturally, there are new characters, good and evil, that aid in creating a more complex and intriguing story. These characters also help to initiate other sub-plots that begin subtly and matter immensely by the end of the section. Most of the story is told from the typical viewpoint of third person limited via Vladimir; however, there are chapters where this volleys to some of the secondary characters and back again, which allows the reader to indulge in experiencing this mystical world from several different perspectives and thus renders an enhanced appreciation of the happenings in the book.

At this current time, K.C. Bouma is offering a wonderful “buy one, get one free” deal on her books; when purchasing the second book, simply add the first one to the cart as well and then use the code PG86L to get the first book free. This is a steal for such a brilliantly conceptualized series.
